Van Dyke

This page contains thumbnail images of some of my Van Dyke prints. This is currently my favourite process.
I use Fabriano Artistico paper for Van Dykes. Normally I apply two coats of sensitizer with a 4" wide Japanese brush. The first coat is allowed to dry naturally, usually overnight. The second coat is left to dry for a couple of hours and finished off with a hair dryer. I apply the sensitizer under subdued lighting (a 15 watt lamp) and the paper is dried in complete darkness. An infra-red light source is needed for the exposure, either the Sun or an infra-red sun lamp.
