This page contains thumbnail images of some of the Salt Prints I have
made. I began with salt/gelatin, soaking the paper in a solution of common
salt and gelatin, drying it and the sensitising it with a coating of silver
nitrate. The silver nitrate is applied using a glass rod. I then tried
salt/arrowroot in which the initial soaking is in a solution of arrowroot
and common salt (the arrowroot I borrowed from the kitchen cupboard). I have
also tried salt/albumen, using a solution of common salt in egg white. The
result is a slightly glossy finish.
I have used a variety of papers and all have been reasonably
successful.
